About New North Citizens Council (NNCC)


New North Citizens Council (NNCC) is a community-based organization dedicated to advocacy, public services, and family support throughout Springfield and Hampden County. Serving the multicultural community for over 40 years, NNCC provides resources that promote individual well-being, community involvement, and improved quality of life.


Through community development, human services, and partnerships, NNCC works to ensure individuals and families have access to the support and opportunities needed to thrive.

Youth Programs at Our site

Project AMP:

Project AMP is a mentorship and prevention program for youth ages 13–17 that uses an evidence-based curriculum focused on substance use prevention. Through engaging activities, education, and positive mentorship, participants build healthy decision-making skills, increase resilience, and develop the confidence to make informed choices for a brighter future.


After School Program:

The After School Program serves youth ages 11–18, providing a safe and supportive environment where participants can grow academically, socially, and personally. Youth enjoy leadership development, homework assistance, mentoring, sports and recreation, guest speakers, field trips, and other enriching activities that build confidence and life skills.


Gun Violence Prevention Program:

The Gun Violence Prevention Program supports young adults ages 17–24 by providing resources and services that promote safety, stability, and long-term success. Participants have access to workforce development, education and housing support, mentoring, immediate needs assistance, and community referrals to help build a positive future.


Summer in the City:

Summer in the City is a 5-week summer camp for students in grades 6–8 that provides a fun, safe, and engaging experience throughout the summer. Participants enjoy breakfast and lunch, recreational activities, weekly field trips, themed days, a talent show, and other enriching opportunities that encourage learning, friendship, and personal growth.


Career Exploration Program:

The Career Exploration Program supports youth and young adults ages 14–25 by helping participants build skills and prepare for future opportunities. Services include workforce development, job readiness training, community service experiences, and school support to encourage career growth, confidence, and success.


HEAL Program:

The HEAL Program supports youth ages 11–16 through violence prevention, healing, equity, and leadership development. Participants receive wraparound services, immediate needs assistance, referrals, and family support to help build resilience, strengthen relationships, and promote positive growth.


YouthBuild:

YouthBuild is a workforce development program for young adults ages 16–24 that provides education, career training, and supportive services to help participants achieve their goals. The program offers vocational training in Construction or Allied Health, HiSET preparation, a $125 weekly earned stipend, mental health support, and wraparound services to support long-term success.
